Comfortable and Secluded Montana Lodging

As you leave Alder, Montana (population 116) in the rear view mirror and drive the Ruby River Road towards the ranch, you can see the three mountain ranges that create our valley and rise around the lands of Upper Canyon Outfitters. Somewhere back behind you is everything you hope to leave behind for a few days. In front of you is nothing but a warm welcome waiting to be shared and adventure waiting to begin.

Our Lodge

When you first pull into the ranch, you’ll see our comfortable lodge directly ahead with an inviting front porch perfect for taking in the Montana air and panoramic mountain views.

The lodge is the hub of activity on the ranch. It’s the place where you can unwind and catch up with friends and other guests over coffee, wine, pre dinner appetizers, and sit down to hearty family-style meals served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each meal is prepared in our kitchens with much of the menu sourced from local beef and produce in season.
In addition to the living room, dining room and kitchen, the lodge also offers six private guest rooms with private or semi-private baths, comfortable beds, and a mini-fridge.

Our Cabins

Guests can also choose to stay in one of our private cabins complete with private bedrooms, baths and four of our six cabins have fully-equipped kitchens.

CABIN 1 – 3 & 4: You can relax in one of our three two-bedroom cabins, these three cabins all have the same floor plan ech cabin sleeps six guests and includes a master bedroom with a queen bed, twin bed and private tub/shower. The second bedrooms have a double bed with a single or bunk bed combo. Each also has a sleeper sofa and an additional full bath. Cabins are a minimum of four guests.

CABIN 1A: Putting your feet up in our two bedroom one bath cabin with a mini kitchen is easy to forget time as this cabin is situated so you can enjoy the beautiful Montana sunsets. Master bedroom has a queen and single bed. The second bedroom consists of a single bed and a set of bunks. Cabin is minimum of three guests.

CABIN 2: Perfect size for a couple, small family or couple of friends getting away to Montana. We have one studio design cabin that has a full kitchen and bath. It consists of a queen bed, bunk bed and futon. Cabin is a minimum of two guests.

CABIN 1B: This cabin is two rooms with a full bathroom. Coffee maker and mini fridge makes this cabin a great hideaway while giving you the meals and social time in the lodge. There is a double bunk in the main room and a single bed in the second room. Cabin is a minimum of two guests.
All Upper Canyon guests can access our free WiFi available throughout the ranch.

Check In

When you arrive at the ranch, come see us in the UCO Store next to the lodge to get checked in to your room or cabin. At the end of your stay, this is also where you’ll check out and have the chance to pick up any gift items before you head for home or drive off for your next adventure.

Check-in times are traditionally on Saturdays, with check out on Fridays.

Come and Get It

Each day begins and ends with a hearty family-style meal served in our lodge dining room. The time we spend at the table gives everyone a chance to share stories, get to know each other, have a laugh or two and talk about the day ahead or the day that was. Each meal begins with appetizers and ends with dessert, with plenty to eat in between. For those with special food needs or food allergies, we ask that you simply let us know at the time of your booking so we can accommodate your requests.

Please feel welcome to bring your favorite alcoholic beverages for cocktail hour and meal time. If you’re a UCO shuttle passenger coming in from the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, just ask your driver to stop by the local liquor store to give you a chance to stock up on all your favorites before you get to the ranch.
