What is an EFW Class?

Equine-Facilitated Wellness (EFW) class is a weekly three-hour immersive experience designed to deepen connection with horses and with yourself.

Inspired by the Equine Facilitated Wellness program developed through our sister nonprofit, @uppercanyonoutreach , this class introduces guests to the principles of equine-facilitated learning in a relaxed, welcoming environment. No riding experience is required.

Most activities take place on the ground, where participants engage with horses through guided exercises, observation, and reflection. Because horses respond to presence, clarity, and intention rather than words, they can offer unique insights into communication, trust, and self-awareness.

This is not a performance-based class—there is no right way to participate. Many guests find the experience grounding, meaningful, and unexpectedly insightful.

Upper Canyon Outfitters will be hosting a week-long event from Monday – Friday, 1- 5 June 2025. We are expecting an influx of 270 people during that time. The event is organized by a company called Tough Stump Technologies (TST). Tough Stump Technologies is a Veteran-led company that specializes in advanced drone technology and communications systems. They are committed to advancing national security through cutting-edge drone and communications technology. These patriots bring battlefield-proven expertise to serve those who protect and defend our nation, state and local law enforcement, fire departments, federal agencies, and military units across active duty, National Guard, and Reserve components.

All drone operations will be restricted to pre-approved areas and closely monitored to ensure safety and privacy. Attendees are fully briefed on respecting the land, the community, and the property owners. On Wednesday and Thursday (June 3–4), expect increased traffic between Alder and UCO, particularly between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

Tough Stump has been holding events here for the past five years, and we’re proud to welcome them back. They’ve consistently demonstrated professionalism, friendliness, and deep respect for our land and community.
